What People Say About Nancy

... We believe that our training standard equips trainers such as yourself with a ready-made 'high bar' that you can use to guide your training efforts.   I applaud you for trying something new.   We need more trainers like you!

hi nancy,

i'm glad to know we're on the right track! ...

i am a very satisfied client of K10 .... i feel, having met you, that you represent the entire package -- a trainer who shares with me the tools to properly address my dog's behaviors, who shows me how to use them, and -- in my case, most importantly -- will be candid about the realities of what the dog will need from me. i do not exaggerate when i say that your talk, which asked me to seriously consider bella's unique set of needs, probably saved roscoe's life and helped us avoid a potential disaster with a family member or friend. i know that sounds melodramatic, but bruce and i are both convinced that is the case.

...you have the continued courage to address this concern in the face of the negative publicity it could bring K10 (let me clarify that statement, however. if there is a misplaced sense that you, as a trainer, are convincing new adopters that if they are not equipped or willing to address the dog's needs, then they should not keep the dog, ... so it is not as if you benefit somehow by it. it seems to me that quite the opposite would be true -- you lose a potential long-term client, who no longer has the dog. yet, the chance remains that K10 can suffer from the perception that you are somehow getting in the way of adoptions.)

but i think that is a short term consideration. because i believe you are doing the right thing. you, as the professional, have a far better sense of a dog's demeanor and behavioral cues than most average dog adopters. you are noticing minutiae that you know will need to be addressed in the best interest of the new pet/adopter relationship. your entire focus is how to make it a lasting commitment.

in closing, i believe you to be a true advocate for the animals in our community. i believe advocacy means looking at the big picture. a dog needs to exist in our world, and as such, they need to learn, and abide by, certain protocols which will gain them access to enjoyable human companionship experiences. ... you are offering them a tool to help make that burden a little lighter, and i commend your commitment.

best,
giancarla

Hi Nancy,
Thanks so much for coming to work with us yesterday.  We took our dog for three more walks this weekend and she is getting so much better.  She calms down right away when she barks at a dog or person and my daughter re-directs her right away and she calms down.  It is so much more pleasant to take her outside!!  I am sure with repeated practice, she will eventually get to the point where she won't bark.
Thanks again!!!  Oh, we were able to get an Easy Walk harness...  It is a much better harness.

Nancy is wonderful with all the dogs.

As you know, she has worked with Madison training her to get into her carrier bag. While Madison bonds with and loves everyone, she developed a very special one on one bond with Nancy! I was very impressed with the results! In addition to getting into her carrier bag, Madison also learned a few new beneficial behaviors such as, focus and leave it. And during the process, Nancy was also very nice, accommodating and considerate to me. She was very thorough -outlining the expectations, what she needed and how she planned to train Madison. And then explained the details and expectations of the follow up process.

With love and barks,

Karen & Madison

The next testimony is from a volunteer at the Georgetown SPCA in Delaware:

I attended the dog training sessions with Nancy the last two Sundays.  I just wanted to let you know I found it very helpful and useful.  It really helped me to work with the dogs when I go visit them and take them out.  Any issues I had with any of the dogs, she helped me address them and taught me how to handle them in the future.

If you have any future sessions, I would like to be included.  Thank you!

 Regards,
         Viola
